Also: fun party game if you trust your guests with your guitars. RS is for getting over that initial bump where practicing isn't really fun and you don't feel comfortable with a guitar in your hand. Not some abstract ink on a paper that isn't really looked at unless you forgot which note to play. It is the epitome of "easy to learn, hard to master". It's something everyone understands: finger positions between frets. It is intuitive and approachable, even by absolute beginners. The power of Rocksmith is that you can pick it up fairly easily. And then they drop the game, refund the thing and give bad reviews. If they'd introduce sheet music, they'd have to either:Ī) introduce it as some "tabs 3.0" notation introduced much later in the game (at which point: why would you learn yet another notation for that?)ī) Introduce it from the get go and have new players be even more confused and intimidated and overwhelmed when they don't hit the right notes. I find this way easier to learn and deal with than rote memorization. As for understanding how chords work? You can recognize the chord shapes and reapply it elsewhere on the fretboard. I like a lot of music, so finding something to play isn't a problem for me personally. Keeping it fun is the best way to keep practicing. But after 70 hours of practice?
